Find out why and help us prepare for the future.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As the Executive and Delegate Assembly have discussed over the past several years, we are registering IFAJ Ltd. as a corporation in the United Kingdom for several reasons, including the ability to include officers and executives from around the world. (Not every country permits that.) To register IFAJ, we must present Articles of Association\u2014our Constitution\u2014and Rules for review to regulators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There\u2019s one significant challenge we face as we prepare for registration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following the direction of the Executive, IFAJ will maintain our current system of voting based on the number of members represented by each guild. By law, we cannot define ourselves as a federation under UK law. That means will have us register as a different type of organization and change our name to reflect that we are no longer a federation. That creates several options:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>We could keep the IFAJ acronym and replace \u201cFederation\u201d with another F-word such as \u201cFellowship,\u201d \u201cFraternity,\u201d or \u201cForum.\u201d Another option would be to incorporate \u201cFood\u201d into the name, for example: International Food and Agriculture Journalists.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We could keep \u201cIFAJ\u201d without assigning definitions for the letters, and modify it with a tagline, like \u201cIFAJ: The International Agricultural Journalists\u2019 Organization.\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We could keep most of the structure of the current name but change the descriptor and its letter to something like \u201cAlliance\u201d (IAAJ), or \u201cConference,\u201d \u201cCaucus\u201d or \u201cCommunity\u201d (ICAJ).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Finally, we could take this opportunity to rename the organization entirely.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Please note that this is not the first time we have changed our name.
